Abakaliki, Nigeria – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi has taken the 2025 Ember Months campaigns to stakeholders’ doorsteps to ensure crash-free festive season in the state.

The Sector Commander of the corps in the state, Anthony Ogbodo, made the disclosure on Monday, noting that citizens’ safety on the roads remains the corps’ priority.

Ogbodo said that in marking the 2025 ember months safety campaigns, the command was deviating from the traditional awareness campaigns at motor parks to engage relevant stakeholders on safety within the period.

“We have intensified increased public awareness on adherence to traffic regulations which are mostly violated during the ember months.

“We are engaging traditional and religious leaders, among others, on increased road safety awareness in their localities to ensure safety during the period.

“We are also.engaging relevant authorities on promoting the use of FRSC applications to monitor drivers’ conduct.”

The sector commander clarified that awareness campaigns at motor parks have nevertheless been sustained.

“We also visit churches to propagate road safety messages because of the vital roles they play in disseminating information of public concern.

“We sensitise commuters to shun acts that would distract drivers but they could also report drivers who exhibit reckless conducts while driving.

“We urge drivers to make their vehicles road worthy, avoid overloading and overspeeding while motorcyclists and their passengers should always wear crash helmets.”

He noted that the theme of the 2025 ember months campaign: “Take responsibility for your safety; stop distracted driving” was apt as it captures the true essence of the campaign.

“We would tour the streets on motorcades for broader publicity, conduct town hall meetings to interact with the people and conduct interactive media engagements.through relevant media channels.

“We would also conduct joint enforcements with sister security agencies among other programmes aimed at making the campaign a huge success.”
