Abofia-Agbaja, Nigeria – Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state on Wednesday donated N5 million to relatives of 11 victims of the Enugu tanker explosion.

Nwifuru made the donation at Abofia-Agbaja Community in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, represented by his wife, Mary-Maudline, described the deaths as a huge loss to the state and mankind.

The victims, including Mr. Jeremiah Nwaji, his wife, six children, a male apprentice and house help were among victims of the tragic tanker explosion at Ugwu Onyeama along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway,
were traveling in a private vehicle to attend the burial of their late father, Mr Augustine Nwaji, when the explosion occurred.

In his remark, Mr Ikechukwu Nwaji, brother of the deceased, thanked the Governor for the donation and wept bitterly over the loss of his entire family.

“I urge President Tinubu to look into the plea of the people on the need to end movement of big vehicles during the day.

“They should only be allowed to operate at night to avert possible incident,” Nwaji pleaded.
