Nsukka, Nigeria – The Immediate Past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi, Charles Akpu-enika, has condemned in strong terms, the killing of 13 Ebonyi indigenes holding their town union meeting at Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra state.

Akpu-enika made the condemnation on Wednesday, noting that the attack was unwarranted and a huge slap on every inkling of sensibillty.

He noted that any assault of lives of innocent citizens of Nigeria should be condemned by all.

“The sacred nature of life makes it not to be taken by any human being under any guise.

“The pragmatic Governor of Anambra state, Prof. Charles Soludo, owes it as a duty to carry out thorough investigation into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.”

He urged security agencies to carry out serious investigations into the matter to ensure that justice is done to the victims and their families.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray God to grant the victims’ souls eternal rest.

“Ebonyi and Anambra states have existed like brothers and sisters and the safety of non indigenes in Ebonyi have always been protected.

“We all should unite in ensuring that the activities of few criminal elements do not put this relationship in jeopardy.”

He commended Gov. Francis Nwifuru for his accommodating stance to all citizens of the state and urged the people to continue living in peace.

“We should continue loving ourselves and ensure that peace and harmony reigns supreme in our existence.

“The people of the south east zone should unite in totally condemning this despicable act and ensure that such does not re-occur.”
