
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has charged it newly-promoted corps commanders and deputy corps commanders to remain responsible, steadfast and loyal.
The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS2, Assistant Corps Marshal Matthew Olonisaye, gave the charge at the decoration of the promoted officers on Wednesday in Lagos.
RS2 of the FRSC covers Lagos and Ogun states.
Olonisaye said: “I wish to congratulate the officers. Promotions only comes from God.
“Your promotion means more responsibilities and ensuring lives are saved on highways.
“When you were at lower ranks, there were things overlooked but now we expect you to be more responsible, committed and loyal.
“Your loyalty to the corps should not be shaken,” he said.
Olonisaye said that errors would not be tolerated from them, adding that their new positions should not be used to intimidate others.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, described the decoration as a seal of victory.
Hamzat praised Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed for efficiency.
“This is a total package in the sence that everyone sent for the promotion got promoted, and this is a thing of joy.
“To the promoted officers, to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.
He urged them to work together to make the roads safer.
In his goodwill message, Mr Abayomi Olukoju, a retired FRSC officer, prayed God to make the newly-promoted officers to be more effective.
Col. Ibrahim Gobir from the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, urged the promoted officers to be role models.
“You need to look at what you have done and what you still need to do for the corps and the whole nation,” he said.
One of the promoted officers, Corps Commander Lucas Oguntade, who spoke on behalf of the newly-promoted officers, thanked God for the privilege.
“The exercise was breathtaking and we appreciate the corps marshal for his magnamity and the FRSC management for this opportunity.
“We pray that spirit of error will not fall on anyone of us,” he said.
Officers promoted to the rank of corps commander are Lucas Oguntade, Nimota Okoro, Chinwendu Iwoha, Adeyemi Bashir, Kareem Olawale and Onyekachi Nnamani.
