Governor Siminalayi Fubara has charged corps members serving in Rivers State to remain patriotic and selfless while leaving lasting legacies in their host communities.
Fubara gave the charge during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream II orientation camp for corps members deployed to Rivers State.
The governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Promise Oguzie, reminded the corps members that Nigeria looked up to them for its future.
He urged them to serve with integrity, commitment and dedication while helping to build a nation driven by the collective dreams of its citizens.
“I assure you of my administration’s intentional effort to make your welfare and security a top priority,” Fubara said.
Speaking, the State Coordinator, NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, commended the corps members for their commitment and adherence to camp rules and regulations.
Oleghe appealed to the governor to approve funds for the immediate commencement of the 1,000-capacity hostel each for male and female corps members at the camp.
However, he urged the corps members to see the service year as an opportunity to develop their skills and gain insights that would shape their future.
A total of 3,344 corps members successfully completed the orientation course. The figure comprised 1,357 males and 1,987 females.
