Former President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ) has urged Nigerians to embrace embrace hope, unity and resilience amid prevailing challenges in the country.
This was contained in a Facebook post by his media aid, Ikechukwu Eze, as the former President extended his 2025 Christmas greetings to Nigerians and friends around the world.
He noted that Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, affirmed God’s promise of redemption, hope and peace for humanity, reminding Christians of the values of faith, humility and selfless service.
Jonathan said that the season underscored the enduring power of light in times of uncertainty, particularly as many Nigerians continued to grapple with economic and social difficulties.
According to him, Christmas called on Nigerians not to surrender to despair, but to remain hopeful and believe in the possibility of national renewal.
“The history of faith teaches us that hope is most powerful when it is tested. Just as the birth of Christ brought a new dawn to a world in search of direction, our collective faith and resilience will see us triumph over our present trials,” he said.
Jonathan also emphasised the need for peace and unity, describing Nigeria’s strength as rooted in shared humanity, compassion, mutual respect and collective responsibility.
He urged Nigerians to use the festive season to reaffirm their commitment to national cohesion and to actions that promote understanding and goodwill.
Jonathan, however, wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a peaceful season.
