Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has handed over affairs of the state to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and embarked on medical vacation.

Mr. Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly confirmed the development on Tuesday.

He said the governor asked for a 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad, saying that it will span from 7 June to 6 July.

The Speaker said that the governor’s letter stated that his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would act as acting governor for the period he will be away.

It will be noted that the governor was reportedly flown to Germany a few weeks ago and returned to the country, but has been unable to make appearances at public functions.

The situation has made residents in the state to rumour that he had died, but his wife, Betty, debunked the rumours, saying her husband was alive and well.
