The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, on Friday inaugurated the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) campaign secretariat in Badagry to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hamzat, represented by the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Ms Damilola James-Sonayon, said the inauguration of the building and ward coordinators would provide a foundation for the party’s mobilisation efforts.

The event, held at the RHA office on Joseph Dosu Road, Badagry, also featured the inauguration of 4,120 polling unit ambassadors and the presentation of campaign vehicles to coordinators across the federation’s 11 wards.

Hamzat said he would decentralise public services and strengthen grassroots participation in governance if elected governor.

He said satellite public service offices would be established across the state’s divisions to bring government services closer to residents and reduce the need for people outside the state capital to travel to Alausa.

Hamzat also promised to introduce regular town hall meetings and multiple communication channels to strengthen engagement with residents.

He said the measures would ensure that government performance was assessed across the divisions rather than only at the state level.

In his remarks, Mr Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and RHA State Coordinator, said the inauguration would support the election of President Bola Tinubu, Hamzat and other APC candidates in 2027.

He identified the candidates as James-Sonayon for deputy governor, Sen. Olusegun Onilude for Lagos West Senatorial District, and Mr Joseph Gbenu and Mr Bankole Olatunde for Badagry Constituencies I and II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, respectively.

Ayinde commended the Badagry Local Government Coordinator of RHA, Mr Olanrewaju Layode, for donating the building for the movement’s office and providing campaign vehicles for the 11 ward coordinators.

He urged the newly inaugurated ward coordinators, unit ambassadors and directors to maintain regular communication with their communities and provide accurate information about the candidates and their programmes.

Ayinde said the office should serve as a centre for coordination and regular meetings, while urging the coordinators to maintain the vehicles and use them responsibly for grassroots mobilisation.

He challenged the coordinators to deliver 200,000 votes for the APC in Badagry in the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the RHA Lagos Chairman and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Cardinal James Odunmbaku, welcomed participants to the inauguration.

The RHA Coordinator for Badagry Federation and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, said 10 polling unit ambassadors had been selected for each of the federation’s 412 polling units.

He said the ambassadors had been briefed on their responsibilities and were holding regular meetings with their respective directorates to ensure effective coordination and mobilisation.

The inauguration was attended by the three council chairmen in Badagry Division, state and federal lawmakers, APC candidates, traditional and religious leaders, community leaders and youths.
