The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) is set to convene the 38th edition of its flagship Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Abuja.
This critical national dialogue will feature Professor Shehu Abdullahi as the keynote speaker, addressing the theme: “Fostering Integrity and Accountability to Reclaim Our Future: Strategies for Combating Corruption and Impunity Across the Board in Nigeria.”
As a quarterly high-level advocacy forum organized by HEDA, the ACSR brings together key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, legal experts, media practitioners, and anti-corruption advocates, to deliberate on urgent governance challenges, including transparency, human rights, electoral reforms, environmental justice, and sustainable development.
By fostering dialogue and collaboration, HEDA aims to advance policy-driven solutions in the fight against corruption.
This edition, themed “Ethics, Integrity, Corruption Risk Assessments, and Anti-Corruption at National and Sub-National Levels: Sustaining the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria,” will address Nigeria’s recent corruption perception rating and explore actionable strategies to curb corruption and impunity.
HEDA’s Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, underscored the significance of the event, stating, “The Anti-Corruption Situation Room is a platform for critical engagement, designed to equip stakeholders with the tools and strategies necessary to advance ethical governance. Our goal is to foster awareness, inspire commitment, and drive systemic change in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.”
The conference discussions will also center on strengthening anti-corruption agencies to combat grand corruption, promoting judicial independence and ethical leadership in governance, and leveraging media, technology, and civil society partnerships to drive transparency and accountability in public office.
