Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd.), has tasked corps members to promote moral and ethical values in everything they do especially after being sworn in into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Ibas said this on Friday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State during the swearing in ceremony of 2025 Batch B Stream I Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.

Ibas, represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, charged the corps members to align themselves with his administration’s character reformation agenda.

“This is by building a society full of “integrity, mutual rust, and discipline.

“I assure you of my administration’s commitment to your security and welfare.

“1,000 pieces of new mattresses and general renovation of hostels will be imminently carried out by this government to create a conducive camping environment.”

The State Coordinator, NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, had enjoined the corps members to see themselves as the “custodians of the hopes of Nigerians” in building a nation of peace and economic prosperity.

“I charged the corps members to change their mindset from negative perception of the country and become agents of positive change.”

He urged corps members to build bridges of national unity and integration as well as become torchbearers of a brighter future.

The oath of allegiance was administered on the corps members by Justice Weli Amadi Chechey, who represented the Chief Judge of Rivers State.
