Why INEC eulogises retired staff in Oyo with fanfare

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has poured encomiums on staff retiring from the commission in Oyo State.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Tella and his counterpart from Ogun, Barrister Niyi Ijalaye were among the top management staff, who took turns to eulogise staff that retired from the commission in 2023 at a send-off party organised for them in Ibadan.

Speaking, Tella noted that the period of retirement was not a moment to be idle but rather a moment to be busy and to lay hands on profitable ventures.

Showering praises to the retirees, Tella said, “You have all demonstrated great acumen and passion for your job, which is why you deserve all accolades that come your way today.

” You have also shown commitment, perseverance and candor in the discharge of your duties. Indeed, you have impacted our Commission with your amazing contribution while in service.

“The role played by these retirees during the 2023 general elections in the state is worthy of note.

“Let me put it on record that whatever success the Commission recorded during the exercise, you are an integral part of it.”

The INEC boss also acknowledged the retirees’ dogged character and relentless effort to see to the growth of the Commission.

In his goodwill message at the occasion, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Niyi Ijalaye enjoined the retirees to always seek the face of God before embarking on any business venture.

Ijalaye urged them to use their gratuity wisely and consult widely before they invest their hard-earned money.

Also speaking, Engr. Abdurazaki Agboola, the INEC’s new Administrative Secretary in Oyo State, applauded the retirees for their dedication and commitment to duties.

Agboola prayed to God to grant the retirees peace and good health.

108scoop.com reports that the occasion was also used to send off two of the Commission’s Directors: Alhaji Abiodun Onikate-Amosu who was formerly, the Administrative Secretary for the state but was transferred to the Ondo state office of the Commission.

The occasion was graced by the former Administrative Secretaries in Oyo State namely Dr Olusiji Okesiji, Mr Kayode Oladimeji, Elder Ebenezer Fakorede, Mr Bunmi Ariyo, as well as Mr Femi Akinbiyi who was the former Head of Department Public Affairs in the state.

The event was also attended by Barrister Dapo Aderibigbe, who was the former HOD Election and Parties Monitoring in Oyo State office of the Commission before his promotion to the post of Administrative Secretary and deployed to Ekiti State office as the Administrative Secretary.

The event was also graced by some senior officers of the Commission in the South-West.

Guests were entertained by the cultural group of the Commission in the state. (108scoop.com)
