The Leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says allegations that the Federal Government planned to enthrone emergency rule in Kano State did not emanate from the party.

It said the unfounded allegation credited to Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate did not represent the party’s views.

In a statement on Monday by the NNPP publicity Directors, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, said that Kwankwaso had long been expelled from its fold.

Recall that Kwankwaso, the NNPP 2023 presidential candidate was expelled by the party, alongside some.of his supporters in the Kwankwasiya Movement for alleged anti party activities.

Abdulrazaq said that aside from being the party’s candidate in 2023, Kwankwaso do not speak for the NNPP and is no.longer a member of the party.

‘Kwankwaso speaks for himself and we totally disagree with him on the allegations and undue interference in the Kano Emirate Saga.

“It is an Abberation for Kwankwaso to refer to himself as a national leader of the NNPP.

“The NNPP strongly believe the Emirate Tussle in Kano State is an internal cultural issue and can only be resolved by indigenes of the state . Emirate related issues are not contained in nnpp manifestos and constitutional provisions.

“As a party, NNPP cannot be dragged into the Emirate Tussle under any circumstance, despite the fact that the governor is our member. “

According to him, , where the people of the state fail to resolve the matter, then a court of competent jurisdictions can do so.

“The NNPP is a national party that provided platform for the good people of Kano state to elect their governor and cannot be reduced to addressing Kano cultural issues and leaving its national outlook, universal focus and programmes.
.
“We, therefore distances ourselves from the unfounded allegation levelled against the Federal Government by Kwankwaso and the unemployed characters around him.

“As a party, we have absolute respect for the rule of law and frown at such reckless statements made by non members of our party, capable of impeding friendship with our sister political parties and the Federal Government.

“We urge the good people of Kano state to turn to God in prayers for a peaceful resolution of the festering crisis and for peace to return to the state.

“It is our hope that elders and elites of Kano state shall continue with the peace process with the help of the Federal Government of Nigeria for a lasting and enduring solution.”

According to members, Abba Yusuf is the governor of Kano state, not NNPP nor any individual. It is the greater number of Kano people that voted him to power and therefore his loyalty is to them and the Constitution of Nigeria.

It is our belief that senator KWANKWASO shall see reasons to call himself to order as an elder of Nigeria who had held responsible positions in our country in the past.
