The Member representing Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency at the House of Representative, Chief Kama Nkemkama, has rued the devastating flood in Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi,
Nkemkanma during the visit to the affected community commiserated with residents who lost properties , homes farmlands among others worth billions on naira to the flood.
The lawmaker said he has engaged relevant federal and state governments agencies, on providing needed assistance to the affected residents.
“This is to cushion the adverse effects of the flood as I have donated four million naira and 500 cartons of noodles to the victims.
“I assure the victims of the required support from government as we would all.work.together to salvage the terrible situation.
“My brother the state Commissioner for Infrastructure for Concession, Mr Obasi Abara also donated N4million to the victims,.”
He noted that he spoke with the director general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) immediately the incident occured and moved for ntervtions were of top gear
“I have also spoken to Gov. Francis Nwifuru and support have been assured from stakeholders.”
Mrs Regina Ogudu, a widow, said her house was totally destroyed by the flood and she has no place to sleep.
“My only son was killed during the community’s conflict with neighbouring Ishiagu and this devastation has added to my woes.”.
Mr Ireme Abia.another victim, said the flood swept his farm crops and destroyed properties belonging to his family,
“I am presently living at the mercy of relations as it seems a dream to watch efforts of several years, vanish in a swoop,”
Nkemkanma was accompanied by the Ivo Local Government Area Chairmen, Mr Michael Anyim.among other stakeholders of the area.
