Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has acquired a new annexe with 850 bed spaces for students and secured NUC approval for three additional programmes, bringing its accredited programmes to 22.
Delivering the dedication sermon on Thursday at the newly acquired annex on Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Rev. Sam Aboyeji, General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church, Nigeria, said dedicating life and property to God was a good thing.
Aboyeji noted that dedication to God means inviting God and handing it over to Him, adding, “It means having the presence of God, which makes the difference in a destiny,”.
According to him, this was why Moses craved the presence of God and insisted that he was not going to go ahead unless His presence went with him (Ex. 33:15).
He shared the testimony of a man who secured a job after an interview, beating previous candidates, with panelists noting his presence was different and uniquely outstanding.
“They did not know that his secret was that he had been in the presence of God continuously for three days, in worship and in prayer, and that he came from a prayer mountain straight to the interview venue,” he explained.
The Foursquare GO emphasised that it was the kind of thing that the presence of God does.
In his remark, the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor Olatunji said that it was the Lord’s doing that Trinity University could acquire such a property at that location, adding that it was the evidence of God’s favour.
Olatunji, who doubled as the Chairman, Governing Council of the institution said the developments reflected the journey of faith, perseverance and commitment to sustaining its mission across generations.
“God has been wonderful. Since we started the university, it has been moving from glory to glory. The Trinity Education Foundation that began over 30 years ago with a school, is also enjoying the favour of God it has been favour upon favour all the way.
“Thirty years of swimming in faith, walking, believing, praying and doing the little we can, knowing God owns the work,” the Pro-chancellor said.
He added that the institution remained committed to building on its achievements while trusting successive generations to sustain its mission.
Prof. Clement Kolawole, Vice-Chancellor, said the university’s newly acquired six-storey annex, will address a challenge that previously limited the university’s capacity to admit students requiring residential facilities.
Kolawole stated the newly approved programmes as; Community Health, Public Health and Environmental Health, said the additional programmes increased the university’s fully accredited programmes to 22, strengthening its academic offerings.
“Before the acquisition of this property, we had the challenge of accommodation because most prospective students want to have accommodation,” he added.
The vice-chancellor said the facility contained student accommodation, laboratories, classrooms, a cafeteria and library for students across some programmes.
He said the university would continue prioritising timely commencement of academic activities, staff and student welfare, and conducive teaching and learning.
Kolawole therefore urged students to comply with university regulations, attend lectures, use the library, complete assignments and prepare adequately for examinations.
The Vice-chancellor reiterated that parents are being allowed to pay school fees in four instalments of 40 per cent, 20 per cent, 20 per cent and 20 per cent.
According to him, the arrangement was designed to ease families’ financial burden while supporting affordability and uninterrupted education.
Kolawole, however, said parents were expected to meet agreed payment obligations while the university fulfilled its responsibility of educating and supporting students.
