LP lawmaker kidnapped on Christmas eve found dead

Anambra State House of Assembly member, Hon Justice Azuka who was kidnapped by gunmen on Christmas eve has been found dead.

Azuka was kidnapped at Onitsha while he was travelling home to spend the Christmas holiday with his family.

There have been agitations for his release both by individuals, state government and his fellow lawmakers, all to no avail.

A press release announcing the death of Azuka, which was made available to journalists in Awka by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said his lifeless body was found around second Niger bridge.

Ikenga said: “In the early hours of today (Thursday), 6/2/2025 at the second niger bridge, the Joint Security team comprising of Police and AVG Operatives on a mission to rescue abducted Hon. Azuka, Honourable State House of Assembly member representing Onitsha North, regrettably found his lifeless body at the scene.”

He said details were not available yet, but as he gets it, he will make it available to journalists.

He added that joint security team have taken over the scene and operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved.
