Among other activities carried out by the department includes the coordinating of the National Missionary Council of Nigeria (NMCN), to represent the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and to pay visits to Major Seminaries in Nigeria.

Th Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr Dr. Simeon Iber who was represented by the Vice Rector, Rev Fr Samuel Akagwu, welcomed the team and commended them for the tireless efforts in carrying out their duties.

He reiterated the fact that the work of mission is at the heart of Seminary formation and that their visit was timely.

The Director of Mission and Dialogue, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Rev Fr Joseph Nomhwange, SMA, with his counterpart, the Episcopal Secretary of the Inter-Religious and Dialogue at the Catholic Secretariat, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Emehel, enlightened the formators and seminarians (who are missionaries in the making) on the activities of the department.

In his vote of thanks, the Dean of Students, Rev Fr Charles Odiniya, appreciated the visiting team for the elaborate discourse on such an important part of the church’s life, such as the mission.
