
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 38-year-old Iwebema Ogechi Peace on Sunday, 21st June 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
She was heading to Beijing, China, through Qatar Airways when operatives found cocaine hidden inside her luggage.
The agency said four large parcels of cocaine were concealed in a professionally created false bottom of her checked-in bag. The drug weighed 7.5 kilograms.
NDLEA Intercepts N12.3bn Canadian Loud At Apapa Port
According to a statement by the Agency’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA operatives tracked a 40ft container carrying 195 sacks of Canadian Loud, a strong cannabis strain from Toronto, Canada. The agency recovered 4,959kg of the drug during a joint examination with Customs officers, security agencies and port stakeholders at Apapa Port, Lagos.
The shipment, valued at N12,397,500,000, arrived in Lagos after moving through Toronto, Montreal and Tanger Med, Morocco. NDLEA said it had monitored the container since 25th April 2026 before it reached Apapa Port.
It added that NDLEA officers in Abuja and Anambra uncovered a syndicate that plants illicit drugs in passengers’ luggage at motor parks. Operatives intercepted methamphetamine hidden in a waybill package inside a Sienna bus travelling from Nnewi, Anambra State, to Abuja on Saturday, 20th June 2026.
The follow-up operation led to the arrest of Gloria Peter at Utako motor park. She denied knowing about the package, but investigations led officers to the loaders and the bus driver, Abdurrazak Isah, who revealed the alleged owner, Onyebuchi Victor Okoye. The methamphetamine weighed 467.7 grams.
Similarly, the statement noted that NDLEA operatives arrested Ikechukwu Uwakwe, 57, at Iddo motor park, Lagos, with 209.50kg of Scottish Loud meant for Enugu.
It disclosed that two Benin Republic nationals, Hossou Tito Julien, 30, and Mancellim Dossou, 19, alongside Nigerian Jackson ThankGod, were arrested on Mile 2 Bridge after NDLEA intercepted their truck carrying drugs from Togo through Benin Republic.
A search of the truck uncovered 558,900 pills of Tramadol 250mg hidden in a fabricated compartment.
Also, NDLEA arrested Lucky Abonga and Osas Azamobo on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway with 118kg of skunk hidden among legitimate goods. The truck was travelling from Ebute Ero on Lagos Island to Onitsha, Anambra State. In another Lagos operation, Helen Ese Idiji, 40, and Rashidat Sa’adullah, 53, were arrested at 15 Olumokun Street, Amukoko, with 28.8kg of skunk.
NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign across schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities. The agency held sensitisation programmes in Yobe, Lagos, Kano, Kogi and Enugu.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers involved in the operations and urged them to continue their efforts against drug trafficking.
