The Collective Movement (TCM), a sociopolitical organisation, has condemned in the strongest possible terms the heartbreaking abduction of school children and teachers in Niger State and the growing wave of insecurity that has forced school closures and violent disturbances across Kwara State.

The group stated this in a statement by its founder, High Chief Franklin Ekechukwu, on Saturday.

TCM noted that the events are not isolated tragedies but symptoms of a security architecture that has collapsed under the current government.

‘’For years, Nigerians have been told to remain calm, be patient, and trust the system, yet every week delivers another painful reminder that the lives of citizens, especially children, are no longer guaranteed in the country.

‘’A government that failed to prevent a preventable tragedy. The kidnapping of over 300 students and teachers in Niger State, despite repeated intelligence warnings and clear security alerts, represents a catastrophic failure of governance.

‘’When intelligence is ignored, when schools reopen without proper oversight, and when armed groups can walk into communities unchallenged, it becomes evident that those entrusted with protecting Nigerians have fallen woefully short.

‘’Likewise, in Kwara State, the violent attacks and subsequent closure of schools point to a frightening reality. Insecurity has spread beyond high-risk zones and is eating into the very foundation of our society — education, safety, and community peace.

‘’Every Nigerian now lives with fear. This is unacceptable. The lives of Nigerians must matter,’’ TCM said.

The organisation insisted that the primary duty of any government is the protection of life and property, stressing that any government that cannot guarantee the safety of its people has failed at the most basic level of leadership.

We refuse to stay silent. We refuse to normalize terror.

And we refuse to accept hollow promises in place of concrete action.

TCM’s National Call to Action

TCM, however, calls on the Federal Government to immediately:

-Launch a coordinated and transparent rescue operation with daily updates to affected parents and communities.

-Activate and enforce a nationwide Safe Schools Protocol, with special security deployment to vulnerable areas.

-Strengthen intelligence coordination between federal and state agencies to prevent recurrence of such attacks.

-Hold accountable any institution or authority whose negligence contributed to these tragedies.

-Engage communities, vigilante structures, and local leaders in a controlled, lawful framework to support official security efforts.
