The General Managers and Area Managers of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) have signed a performance bond with the Managing Director, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, reinforcing a strict commitment to eradicating boat mishaps.

Oyebamiji made this known in a press statement on Sunday in Lagos.

He said the bond was part of efforts to enhance safety on Nigeria’s waterways.

This initiative highlights NIWA’s resolve to enforce safety regulations and improve operational efficiency across the nation’s inland waterways,'' he said.

To further strengthen emergency preparedness, the NIWA MD also inaugurated an Emergency Response Committee, tasked with swift interventions in the event of any maritime incidents.

The committee will work closely with stakeholders to ensure rapid response and proactive measures to mitigate risks on the waterways.
