NOC extends condolences on the passing of Abba Yola

It is with deep sorrow that Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), on behalf of the Olympic Family in Nigeria, extend his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Abba Yola to his family

Abba Yola was an esteemed Chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club and a former staff member of the Defunct Federal Ministry of Sports.

He was not just a passionate sports official; he was a devoted public servant, who made significant contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria.

He served as Chief of Staff to a former Sports Minister, Chief Sunday Dare and also as Special Assistant to a former Director-General of National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr Patrick Ekeji as well as severed in several special commitees during his tour of duty.

His dedication and commitment in various key positions within the Ministry of Sports were exemplary, marking him as a true pillar of the community until his retirement.

Known for his quiet and soft-spoken demeanor, Abba Yola had a unique ability to foster positive relationships with everyone around him.

He handled his responsibilities with grace and firmness, always prioritising his duties while cultivating an atmosphere of respect and camaraderie.

Abba Yola’s impeccable dress sense was a reflection of his character, earning him admiration from both his seniors and juniors alike.

His presence will be profoundly missed in Kano and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In this time of grief, let us celebrate a life well-lived.

May the Almighty Allah grant the Family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
