The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has warmly hailed its Grand Patron, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the appointment of Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as the new Chair of the Federal Character Commission.

President Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, also holds the esteemed position of Grand Patron of the NOC.

Hon. Omidiran has strong ties with the Olympic community as a dedicated member of the NOC Board of Trustees.

In a statement conveying the NOC’s enthusiastic response, President Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, the distinguished Nigerian member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), expressed profound joy and satisfaction upon receiving news of the appointment.

The statement read: “It was with great joy and gladness that we received the news of your appointment as the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission.

Your appointment is undoubtedly an open acknowledgement of your meritorious experience in the public sector, both as a distinguished former member of the National Assembly and now in the Olympic Movement.

“We in the Olympic Family have the assurance that you will use your experience and proven leadership capacity to improve the fortunes of the Federal Character Commission during your tenure.”

In this crucial national assignment, the NOC emphasises Omidiran’s unique perspective and valuable experience, stemming from her involvement in governance and the dynamic world of sports.

Her understanding of diverse representation and equitable opportunity, principles deeply embedded in the Olympic Charter, is a significant asset for her new role.
