  • Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines Company Limited, is confident he’ll emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Anambra State’s governorship election. He accused Governor Charles Soludo of trying to block his candidacy by spending heavily in Abuja .

Okonkwo’s comments came after an APC group, the Anambra Coalition for Progressives Change (ACPC), presented him with Nomination and Expression of Interest forms worth N50 million. The forms were purchased to support his governorship bid.

Okonkwo thanked the coalition for their support, stating that their gesture was a testament to their confidence in his ability to govern Anambra State. He also expressed his determination to rescue the state from its current challenges, particularly insecurity.

The leader of the Anambra Coalition, Chief Cyril Ndubuisi Ezeani, explained that the group purchased the forms to demonstrate their seriousness and confidence in Okonkwo’s candidacy.

Okonkwo’s confidence stems from his belief that he has the support of the people and the party. He also emphasized his ability to address the state’s governance failures, which he claims have been exacerbated by Soludo’s administration.

It’s worth noting that the APC has not adopted a power rotation formula, unlike the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which has governed the state since 2006. This means that Okonkwo will face competition from other aspirants within the party .
