Onitsha trader’s killing: Soludo assures thorough investigation

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has assured the family of Miss Chinwe Igwe, the victim of the Onitsha market tragedy that occurred on Tuesday, of a thorough investigation into the incident.

Soludo gave the assurance on Wednesday during a meeting with representatives of the Igwe family from Ikwo, Ebonyi State, held at the Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters.

“A thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“And any security personnel found to be at fault will face prosecution.

“It is essential that operatives adhere to established protocols to prevent preventable tragedies because every life matters,” he said.

The Governor commended law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the situation.

He urged them to continue their efforts to maintain peace and order throughout the state.

Mr. Uche Igwe, brother of the deceased, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for showing concern.

Gov. Soludo visited the injured victims at a private hospital in Onitsha and at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi to offer his sympathies.
