Dr. Abdul-Malik Rabiu Jaafar, FMNES, FCILRM,
Youth Leader, ADC Worldwide Diaspora Network, has expressed strong opposition to the decision by the Senate to combine electronic and manual transmission of election results.

The youth leader in a statement on Tuesday said that the decision is a clear step backward in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

According to him, mixing electronic and manual processes creates room for confusion, manipulation, and disputes, thereby weakening public confidence in the credibility of elections.

“At a time when Nigerians are demanding transparency and efficiency, policies that dilute technological safeguards must be firmly rejected.

“Electronic transmission of results was introduced to reduce human interference, speed up collation, and enhance trust in the electoral process. Reintroducing manual alternatives undermines these gains and opens dangerous loopholes that can be exploited.

“We therefore call on all opposition parties, civil society organizations, and democracy-loving Nigerians to unite and speak with one voice against this decision.

“The integrity of our elections is non-negotiable and must never be compromised for political convenience,” Jaafar said.

He noted that Nigeria deserves an electoral system that is clear, credible, and transparent, not one that invites confusion and controversy.
