The Senate has confirmed the nomination of former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, as Minister of Defence following a five-hour grilling by lawmakers on Wednesday.

Some senators had opposed a proposal to excuse the former Chief of Defence Staff and ministerial nominee from questioning.

Trouble began when the Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa, suggested that the nominee be allowed to “take a bow and go”.

The Senate commenced the screening of General Musa as the new Minister of Defence on Wednesday.
