The Anambra State House of Assembly has issued a strong challenge to the state Police Command to re-arrest the alleged killers of lawmaker Justice Azuka, who was murdered under unclear circumstances.

The call comes after two suspects escaped from police custody while officers were attempting to recover stolen property linked to the crime .

The speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, expressed outrage over the incident, describing it as “unacceptable” and a setback that could undermine public confidence in the investigation.

The House emphasized that the escape of key suspects poses a grave risk to public safety and could potentially obstruct the course of justice .

The police have faced accusations of complicity in the escape, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident. In response, the Speaker directed the State Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts to recapture the suspects and declare them wanted.

The police have been urged to publicly release the names, addresses, and photographs of the fleeing suspects to facilitate their arrest with public assistance.

Justice Azuka’s death has sent shockwaves through the community, and the House is adamant that justice must be served.

The Speaker emphasized that Azuka’s death must not be in vain and called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the escape .
