The Narrative Force Commend Catholic Bishops’ Conference Of Nigeria

We express our profound appreciation to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) for its unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and the common good. At a time when many choose the comfort of silence, the Catholic Bishops have remained steadfast in providing principled and courageous moral leadership to our nation.

Over the years, irrespective of the political party or personality occupying Aso Rock, the Conference has consistently discharged its prophetic responsibility by speaking truth to power with sincerity, objectivity, and patriotism. That consistency has earned it the respect and confidence of millions of Nigerians.

We encourage the Bishops to continue honouring every invitation to the Presidential Villa whenever matters concerning the state of the nation are to be discussed. Such engagements provide a valuable opportunity to present the realities confronting ordinary Nigerians directly to those entrusted with the responsibility of governance.

In doing so, we urge you to remain fearless and uncompromising in speaking the truth. The purpose of such dialogue is not to comfort those in authority but to challenge them with honesty, inspire them to act justly, and remind them that leadership is ultimately a sacred trust held on behalf of the people. If you could speak boldly to the late dictator Gen. Sani Abacha, how much less can you do to any civilian emperor.

As spiritual leaders and custodians of enduring moral values, your voices resonate far beyond the Catholic faithful. They reflect the legitimate aspirations of millions of Nigerians who long for justice, security, accountability, economic opportunity, and a nation governed with compassion and integrity.

History teaches that societies flourish when those in positions of moral authority refuse to be intimidated into silence. Continue to uphold the highest ideals of justice and righteousness, for truth spoken with courage remains one of the greatest services to both the nation and those who govern it.

May God continue to grant the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria the wisdom, courage, and grace to remain a beacon of hope and a fearless voice for truth.

“The truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32.
