President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has acknowledged the economic hardship Nigerians face under ongoing reforms while accepting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

Tinubu Admits Pain From Economic Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday in Abuja, admitted that Nigerians have gone through difficult times under his administration’s economic and fiscal reforms. He said the burden has also affected him personally.

However, he stressed that reforming the country requires sacrifice. He said he understands the pressure on citizens as policies reshape the economy.

Meanwhile, Tinubu spoke shortly after he received the APC presidential ticket at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

“We Share the Strain” — Tinubu

Tinubu said he has also felt the impact of the reforms. He told supporters that leadership demands shared sacrifice.

“I know what it takes to reform this nation we met in tatters. If you lost sleep, I’ve lost some too. If you’ve lost weight, I’ve lost some too,” he said.

Furthermore, he added that he remains committed to the mandate he received from Nigerians in 2022. He said he asked for the job and must complete it.

APC Ticket Acceptance and Party Support

Tinubu formally accepted the APC nomination and thanked party members for the confidence placed in him. He said he will once again contest the presidency in 2027.

However, he noted that the party primaries showed strong participation across the country. He described the process as peaceful and encouraging for democracy.

Nationwide Primary and Election Outcome

Tinubu said he followed the primary election closely after voting in Lagos on Saturday. He said he watched reports from across the country with interest.

Meanwhile, he pointed to large turnouts in places like Kano and Kaduna. He also noted peaceful scenes in other parts of the country.

He said the process showed political maturity, with no violence or crisis recorded.

Result and Vote Breakdown

Tinubu emerged winner of the APC presidential primary after securing 10,999,162 votes across 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards.

However, his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, polled 16,503 votes nationwide. The APC later declared Tinubu winner and presented him with the party’s flag for the 2027 election.
