President Bola Tinubu has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election and called on his critics to work with him for national unity.

Tinubu Calls for Unity After Victory

President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday in Abuja, accepted the APC presidential ticket and extended a hand of cooperation to political opponents and critics. He said Nigeria’s progress depends on unity, even among those who disagree.

Meanwhile, he said he polled about 10.9 million votes at the APC presidential primary, securing his position as the party’s flag bearer for 2027.

Security and National Stability Promise

Tinubu said his government will continue to tackle insecurity across the country. He stressed that protecting lives and property remains a key duty of his administration.

However, he admitted that security challenges still exist. He said government has increased support for the military and police and improved intelligence and surveillance systems.

Furthermore, he noted that efforts are ongoing to address the root causes of insecurity. He also said the National Assembly should consider constitutional changes to allow state police, describing it as urgent.

Economic Reforms and Key Achievements

Tinubu highlighted his administration’s reforms since May 29, 2023. He said the economy has undergone major changes, including new tax and fiscal policies aimed at improving revenue.

In addition, he said the government has disbursed over N282 billion through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, benefiting more than 1.5 million students.

He also said the administration has reduced the metering gap by supplying about 2.5 million electricity meters under the Presidential Metering Initiative.

Meanwhile, he stated that a N4 trillion bond programme is being used to clear verified debts owed to GENCOs and GASCOs.

Power, Infrastructure and National Projects

Tinubu said Nigeria’s power generation has improved, sometimes reaching 6,000 megawatts, which he claimed is 50 per cent higher than what his government inherited.

Furthermore, he said the government is redesigning the power sector to attract private investment and ensure long-term stability.

He added that major road, transport, housing, and digital infrastructure projects are ongoing, including coastal highways and the Sokoto–Badagry route designed for long-term durability.

Political Message and Call Ahead of 2027

Addressing APC leaders and stakeholders, Tinubu said democracy must allow disagreement without division. He urged Nigerians to focus on national interest ahead of the 2027 election.

However, he cautioned against voting for leaders without clear plans, saying Nigeria must not move backward.

He also congratulated his opponent in the primaries, Stanley Osifo, praising his participation and sportsmanship.
