High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, the former Niger Delta militant leader popularly known as Tompolo, has launched a grassroots campaign in Taraba State to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking through his representative, High Chief Kestin Pondi, at an event in the state capital Jalingo, Ekpemupolo urged residents to back the President’s second-term ambition, arguing that ongoing economic and policy reforms require additional time to yield full results.
“Taraba is thriving because President Tinubu has good reformation policies that are moving the state forward,” Pondi said on behalf of Ekpemupolo, the Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement. “If we want those policies to continue and be more solid… we need to give the president another four years.”
As part of the campaign launch, the movement donated 25 vehicles, alongside power generators and public address systems, to facilitate voter mobilization across Taraba’s local government areas and polling units.
The initiative received formal backing from Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, who pledged full alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and promised strong voter turnout for Tinubu in the upcoming polls.
“We are going to turn out en masse and give the President 100 percent votes,” Kefas told attendees.
Sunday Asuku, National Coordinator for the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, stated that abandoning current economic policies midstream would be counterproductive, calling continuity under the APC the country’s best path forward.
