WHO Expresses Regret Over US Withdrawal Decision, Urges Reconsideration

The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed regrets over the United States’ decision to withdraw from the agency.

The move, announced by President Trump, highlights his long-standing criticism of the WHO’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHO spokesperson, Tarik Jasarevic, stated that the organization plays a crucial role in global health, including protecting Americans.

Jasarevic hopes the US will reconsider its decision, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership for the health of millions worldwide.

The United States, the WHO’s largest financial contributor, could potentially disrupt key global health initiatives, particularly amid ongoing negotiations for a treaty on pandemic prevention.

Experts have raised concerns, arguing that withdrawing from the WHO could weaken US influence and endanger global health security, especially with growing concerns over bird flu.

This marks the second attempt by Trump to sever ties with the WHO, after a similar move during his first term.
