The Abia State government has sacked contractors handling some of its investments and terminated every existing contract with the affected companies for allegedly breaching the terms and conditions guiding the agreement.

Abia State Commissioner for Agriculture, Cliff Agbaeze gave the order in a statement on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

He said that the revocation of the contract is with immediate effect akes effect.

The Commissioner said the government’s decision followed a careful review of the existing contracts on the state’s farm estates, declaring that the contracts were signed to the detriment of the State’s interests.

The statement read in part: ” It would be irresponsible of this government to allow the breaches to continue nor subject the state to such clearly compromised conditions”.

The Commissioner said a fresh bidding process would soon be initiated to bring in credible investors, in line with international best practices.
