Why Court remands housewife for stabbing husband to death

Ibadan, July 11, 2023 – An Ibadan Magistrates Court has remanded a housewife, Damilola Opeyemi, in Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo town for allegedly stabbing her husband to death over noodles

Magistrate P. O . Adetuyibi did not take the suspect plea, saying she should be remanded pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She adjourned the matter till Sept. 27 for mention.

The suspect was charged with murder.

The Police Prosecution, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that Damilola on July 4 around 8.30pm caused the death of her husband.

Adegbite said: “The couple lived at Adogba Ajegede area, Ibadan. Wife stabbed her husband, Oluwashina, 27, during a fight over noodles dinner.”

The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
