Why Goodluck Johnathan advises Wike, Fubara to stop crisis

Port Harcourt, May 20, 2024 – Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday advised Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor, to bury the hatchet and put an end to the political crisis in the state.

Jonathan gave the advice while kicking off the construction of the N222.1 billion Trans-Kalabari Road in Rivers State.

He said Fubara and Wike must work together to advance the growth and development of Rivers.

Johnathan said the political tension in the state was getting too much, while the crisis was not helping the development of Rivers.

He said the destabilization of Rivers would negatively affect the Niger Delta region and would also have effects all the country as Rivers is critical to Nigeria.

Rivers State Executive Council approved the award of contract for the road project last week.

 The project is to be funded entirely from the internally generated revenue of the state.
