Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has described his emergence as the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election as a great honour.
Kwankwaso made this known in a statement posted on his 𝕏 account on Sunday, where he expressed gratitude to the party leadership and the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for the confidence reposed in him.
Kwankwaso Thanks NDC Leadership
The former governor’s reaction came a day after Peter Obi’s ratification as the NDC presidential candidate and his subsequent nomination of Kwankwaso as running mate for the 2027 presidential race.
Furthermore, Kwankwaso thanked the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, and other stakeholders for what he described as a bold and visionary decision.
He said his selection reflected the NDC’s commitment to national unity, democratic growth and purposeful leadership ahead of the next general election.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso pledged to work closely with the party leadership and members to secure victory at the 2027 polls.
“It was a profound honour to join fellow party members at the special affirmation ceremony of His Excellency, Peter Obi, as the Presidential Candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
“I am particularly humbled and deeply honoured by my ratification as the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, and all other leaders for this bold and visionary decision. It clearly reflects the NDC’s unwavering commitment to national unity, democratic consolidation, and purposeful leadership as we prepare for the 2027 elections.”
Consequently, the development further strengthens the emerging Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as the NDC intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
