The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, on Saturday led a wellness walk in Awka to promote physical fitness and raise awareness on disease prevention.

The exercise, organised under her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, brought together government officials, health workers, students and residents who joined the walk from Arroma through major streets in the state capital.

Speaking after the event at the Awka Stadium, Soludo highlighted the importance of regular exercise in maintaining good health.

She said that physical activity helps prevent lifestyle-related ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.

“Health is the greatest wealth and a healthy body is the foundation of a productive life.

“We must learn to care for ourselves through consistent physical activity and healthy choices.

“We mobilised about 10,000 residents for this fitness walk, which is holding simultaneously across all the 21 local government areas,” she said.

Soludo urged residents to embrace simple habits such as walking, stretching and eating healthy meals as practical steps toward overall wellbeing.

The event also featured aerobics sessions, and wellness talks by health professionals.

Soludo reiterated her commitment to promoting healthy living through continuous advocacy on fitness, nutrition, hygiene and mental health.
