
Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Rivers state, Nigeria – The Commander, 6 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. A. A. Bello, has admonished corps members that they are Nigeria’s future and must always try to live up to such billings
Bello said this on Wednesday when he visited the 2025 Batch B Stream II Corps Members in camp at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers state.
The garrison commander informed the corps members that Nigerians expect much from them as they are the beacon of hope and shapers of a new Nigeria.
“I charge you to live a life of discipline, patriotism, and integrity to make a positive impact in yourselves and the nation at large.”
In a related development, the Executive Chairmen of Eleme and Ahoada East LGAs of the state, have pledged their commitment to support the NYSC in Rivers state.
The duo were responding to the Rivers state NYSC Coordinator’s charge to council chairmen, to live their imprints in the scheme’s programmes and activities.
The Executive Chairman of Ahoada East, Solomon Abuba Ochoma, gave assurances of his administration’s commitment to speedily build a befitting corpers’ lodge in the council.
“I assure of topnotch corps welfare and security for all corps members posted to the council.
“I will also sponsor football finals of the orientation exercise.”
The Executive Chairman, Eleme LGA, Chief Ollormate Ollor, directed the immediate renovation of the temporary corps lodge (NCCF Corps Lodge) used by corps members in the council.
“I have directed round the clock security around the lodge to forestall theft of corps
members properties.
“I have also directed the replacement of worn-out and tattered mattresses in the lodge to give the corps members a sense of belonging.”
He assured that the abandoned permanent corps lodge in the council will be treated as a priority project that will be completed and inaugurated soon
“It is indeed clear that the strategic engagements of the NYSC Rivers state Director, Mr Moses Oleghe, with critical stakeholders are paying off.
