A cabin crew member of United Nigeria Airlines, Miss Uche Francisca Ogbuagu, has received commendation for her composure, professionalism and customer service in handling an unruly passenger during a recent flight.

The commendation was contained in a letter dated August 11, 2026, written by Dr. Everest Okpara, Chairman of Everight Diagnostic Ltd, and addressed to the management of United Nigeria Airlines.

In the letter titled, “Commendation for Exceptional Customer Service – Miss Uche Francisca Ogbuagu,” Okpara said he was moved to formally recognise Ogbuagu’s conduct after witnessing her manage a difficult interaction with a passenger who was extremely rude and unruly.

According to him, the incident arose over adherence to aviation rules, but Ogbuagu remained calm and composed throughout the encounter.

He said the cabin crew member maintained a respectful tone, exercised considerable restraint and responded with professionalism and courtesy, despite the circumstances.

Okpara said her conduct impressed passengers seated nearby, particularly because she did not allow the passenger’s behaviour to provoke a less measured response.

“What particularly stood out was her ability to remain focused on her responsibility to the passenger and to the airline’s policy, without allowing the passenger’s conduct to compromise the quality of her service,” he stated.

He added that Ogbuagu’s measured communication and courteous demeanour demonstrated a high level of emotional intelligence, self-control and maturity.

According to him, such qualities are particularly important in the aviation industry, where cabin crew members serve as highly visible representatives of an airline and their conduct during difficult situations can significantly shape passengers’ perception of the organisation.

“As someone who regularly interacts with professionals across different service environments, I recognise that these qualities are not merely desirable in the aviation industry; they are fundamental to delivering a truly excellent customer experience,” Okpara said.

He urged the airline’s management to formally convey the commendation to Ogbuagu, stressing that employees who demonstrate such professionalism deserved to be recognised and encouraged.

He described her handling of the incident as an excellent representation of the values and service standards United Nigeria Airlines seeks to uphold.

The commendation comes at a time when incidents involving unruly passengers continue to highlight the importance of professionalism, emotional intelligence and adherence to established aviation procedures among cabin crew.
