A political commentator, Aare Amerijoye DOT.B, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of failing to explain alleged irregularities in the 2026 federal budget and urged Nigerians to vote the APC out in the 2027 general election.
In a commentary released on July 2, 2026, Amerijoye used the story of cats guarding a community fish pond to describe what he called a lack of accountability in government.
He argued that Nigerians contributed to building the country but accused those in power of benefiting from public resources while denying wrongdoing.
He likened the situation to cats that ate all the fish in a community pond and later claimed the pond never existed.
The writer questioned reports about an alleged government agency that the Presidency reportedly said did not exist but allegedly appeared in the 2026 federal budget.
He claimed the agency somehow operated across key institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Budget Office, the National Assembly and Nigerian embassies abroad.
He also alleged that more than 300 workers received salaries through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
According to him, such payments could not happen without approval from government officials.
Amerijoye challenged the Presidency to release documents linked to the disputed budget entry.
He asked officials to identify who prepared the budget line, approved the workers, opened bank accounts and authorised salary payments.
He also urged President Tinubu to order a full investigation and punish anyone found responsible.
According to him, the matter goes beyond forgery or impersonation because several government institutions would have had to process the transactions.
The writer connected the controversy to the country’s economic challenges.
He said many Nigerians continue to struggle with high food prices and rising living costs, while he alleged that public funds went to an agency whose existence remains disputed.
He also criticised the APC-led government over subsidy removal, inflation and the declining value of the naira, arguing that ordinary citizens have seen little improvement in their lives.
Amerijoye urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), verify their registration and prepare for the 2027 general election.
He called on opposition groups, community organisations, religious bodies and market associations to mobilise voters ahead of the polls.
The writer maintained that Nigerians should demand full disclosure of the appointment records, payroll documents, CBN records and IPPIS enrolment linked to the alleged agency.
He concluded that if the government fails to provide those records, voters should use the ballot box to hold elected leaders accountable in 2027.
