Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta has become the subject of intense transfer speculation, with several top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, reportedly monitoring his situation.

Mateta’s impressive form under manager Oliver Glasner has sparked interest from various clubs, despite Palace activating a one-year contract extension that keeps him at the club until June 2027. However, with negotiations for a long-term deal stagnating, the French striker’s future at Selhurst Park remains uncertain.

Since Glasner took charge in February 2024, Mateta has been one of the Premier League’s most prolific goalscorers, netting 26 goals in 41 appearances. His impressive record has outshone many of the division’s established strikers, with only Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer, and Mohamed Salah surpassing his goal tally during this period.

The interest in Mateta is not limited to Premier League clubs, as European heavyweights such as Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and Marseille are also said to be tracking his situation. With seven Premier League clubs, including West Ham, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest, also keeping a close eye on developments, Palace fans are growing increasingly concerned about the prospect of losing their star striker.

Mateta’s physical presence, ability to hold up play, and clinical finishing make him a valuable asset to Palace. If he does not commit to a long-term contract, the club may find themselves in a precarious position, vulnerable to losing their key player to a bigger club. Palace supporters are anxious to see the club retain Mateta, as his departure could undermine their ambitions to push further up the table.
