Cotonou, Benin Republic – Benin flood victims in 2022 on Wednesday received 392,357 million CFAF from the Economic Commission for West African States (ECOWAS).

According to the Beninese Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, the money is to get to 48 of Benin’s 77 Communes as part of government’s efforts.

In addition to this, the Beninese government, on its part, has released 290 million CAF, under the National Disaster Response Fund, for the purchase of food and non-food items for the flood victims.

A partnership agreement was signed between Benin, ECOWAS and the Benin Red Cross, which is responsible for the practical implementation of this assistance.

The funds will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to 2,500 flood-affected households, refugees and displaced persons, as well as to build the resilience of communities and strengthen the capacity of administrative structures.
