NSCDC Lagos Launches CNAI–NPPS Summit, Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Critical National Assets

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has launched its State-Level Coordination Meeting on the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), in alignment with the 2024 National Protection Policy and Strategy (NPPS).

The summit, held today at the IHS facility in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lagos, forms part of the implementation framework directed by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and endorsed by the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Delivering his keynote address, the Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Keshinro Adedotun, highlighted Lagos as a vital hub hosting some of the nation’s most critical infrastructure.

“Our seaports, airports, energy facilities, telecommunications hubs, financial institutions, and major transport corridors make Lagos both a national strength and a prime target for hostile actors.

“This coordination summit allows us to join forces in safeguarding those assets that underpin our safety, stability, and economic well-being,” he stated.

Welcoming participants to the IHS facility, the Chief Corporate Services Officer of IHS, Mr. Dapo Otunla, commended the NSCDC Lagos Command and all attending agencies for their proactive engagement.

“This roundtable is an opportunity to deepen inter-agency collaboration and develop lasting solutions to protect our collective critical assets and infrastructure across Nigeria,” he said.

The event featured goodwill messages and contributions from major stakeholders, including the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), EFCC, ICPC, and others.

Participants commended NSCDC Lagos for convening the meeting and emphasized the need for a more robust framework that would expand participation to additional stakeholders, including traditional and religious institutions.

They agreed that the recommendations from the summit will feed into a broader communiqué to strengthen the implementation of CNAI–NPPS nationwide.

The summit was attended by a wide range of stakeholders across the security, energy, telecommunications, financial, and civil sectors, including: Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, IHS, Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army.

Others included the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, DSS, NIS, NCoS, Federal Fire Service, EFCC, ICPC, MTN, Airtel, NEMSA, NDLEA, NOA, MENJ Oil, Fiber One, EKEDC, FAAN, Ikeja Electricity, Scrap Dealers Association, and many more.

The NSCDC Lagos Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining stakeholder engagement as part of its mandate to prevent vandalism, protect infrastructure, and secure the assets that drive Nigeria’s economic resilience and national security.
