Governor Francis Nwifuru’s background in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly has strengthened his leadership and improved governance in the state, former Assembly Leader Dr Obinna Nwachukwu has said.
Nwachukwu made the remarks during the endorsement of Governor Nwifuru for a second term by stakeholders and people of Ishielu Local Government Area.
The former Ebonyi House of Assembly leader and former Chairman of Ishielu LGA said Nwifuru brought experience and skill to governance after serving eight years as Speaker of the Assembly.
He said the governor’s time as Speaker helped him understand the needs of the state because the legislature makes laws that affect every sector and the welfare of the people.
Nwachukwu said Nwifuru’s tenure as Speaker recorded one of the most peaceful periods in the relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.
He added that the governor now uses that experience to address key challenges through his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
Nwachukwu moved the motion for Nwifuru’s adoption for a second term. Chief Peter Edeh, who formerly represented the Ishielu/Ezza North Federal Constituency, seconded the motion.
He said that the people supported the governor because he resolved the communal conflict in the area, which had resisted previous efforts to end it.
He said Nwifuru’s calm approach and proactive leadership restored peace and normal life in the affected communities.
He also credited the governor with improving education, healthcare, agriculture and human empowerment across the state.
Nwachukwu said the endorsement also covered all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the 2027 general elections, including the August 22 local government council polls in Ebonyi State.
He said Ebonyi had benefited from the APC at the federal and state levels, adding that the people would show their support through their votes.
He expressed confidence that all APC candidates had proved themselves and would continue to deliver for the people.
