Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, lost the APC House of Representatives ticket for the Orlu/Orsu/Oru East federal constituency to incumbent lawmaker, Canice Moore Omeogo.
Cubana Chief Priest Suffers Primary Defeat
The celebrity businessman had declared interest in the 2027 House of Representatives election to represent Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.
However, the APC primary held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, ended in defeat for the socialite. He secured only 14 votes out of the 2,845 votes cast during the exercise.
Meanwhile, Honourable Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo, popularly known as Omeogo, defeated him to retain the party’s ticket for the constituency.
Setback for His Political Ambition
In recent months, Cubana Chief Priest openly backed the APC-led government and President Bola Tinubu. He also expressed strong interest in representing his people at the National Assembly.
Furthermore, the socialite promised to attract development projects and add value to the constituency if elected into office.
However, losing the APC ticket marks a major setback for his growing political career. Political observers now expect him to focus more on promoting the “City Boy Movement” campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Focus Shifts to APC Campaign Activities
Consequently, Cubana Chief Priest may now channel his energy into supporting President Tinubu’s bid for another four-year term in Aso Rock.
Supporters of the entertainer also believe he could still secure future opportunities within the APC because of his loyalty and public support for the ruling party.
