SUNU Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) has restated its commitment to prompt health access care for all its enrollees.

Dr Faith Nwachi, Chief Operations Officer (COO) of SUNU, gave the assurance in Lagos on Thursday at the HMO Lagos-Ogun 2nd Quarter Providers Forum 2026.

Nwachi said that the HMO was doing whatever it could within the ambit of the law to make sure that enrollees received adequate care.

She said that the theme of the forum was “Improving Quality and Access Care Through Stronger Provider Network”.

She said that the HMO would keep organising the forum to keep improving the HMO services.

According to her, it provides an avenue to hear from the enrollees, hear from the providers and also hear from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

“If there are new developments, like we invited the NHIA now, they’ll let us know that these are the new developments.

“These are new things we want you people to be doing so that the enrollees will have a better experience and everything will work out smoothly for everybody,” she said.

Speaking, Dr Bethuel-Kasimu Abraham, Lagos State Coordinator, Ikeja, said that the expected outcome from the forum was to reduce delays in accessing medical care.

Abraham said other expectations were to ensure continuity of care, improved patients outcomes, ensure continuity of care and strengthen accountability among HMOS.

He said that NHIA had come up with one hour authorisation policy for enrollees to get codes to access care, and that if the provider didn’t get response within the time frame, such HMO should be reported.

On his own part, Mr Dare Adefeso, Ogun State Coordinator, NHIA, said that the organisation received some complaints on out of stock drugs, discrimination against enrollees among others.

“These are some of the challenges that we know we encounter when it comes to complaints from our enrollees”.

He said that the organisation had been on top of it and going forward, every facility must have its enrollees on health insurance.

Contributing, Mrs Aishat Tiamiyu, Ogun State Director, National Orientation Agency, said that the agency was studying the responsibility of disseminating information.

Tiamiyu said they had been enrolled with SUNU Health for over 25 years now and called on new staff to be enrolled
