
Chrisland Schools Ltd. has awarded scholarship to 14 outstanding pupils in its annual scholarship scheme aimed at promoting academic excellence and rewarding hard work.
The Managing Director of the school, Mrs. Ibijoke Adeyemi, said at the Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Lagos on Friday, that the initiative was designed to celebrate diligence, excellence and exceptional performance among learners.
Adeyemi said the beneficiaries distinguished themselves in both the entrance examination and the scholarship test, describing the process as highly competitive.
“We are here to celebrate hard work, diligence and success. These pupils have excelled in their examinations, and we are very proud of them.
“This is just the beginning of greater achievements for them. They will continue to be celebrated in secondary school, university and in life,” she said.
The managing director said that the scholarship programme, which began over 30 years ago, had expanded from rewarding only the overall best candidate to accommodating more pupils across the school’s branches.

According to her, the introduction of a second-stage scholarship test become necessary due to the increasing number of candidates with similar scores in the entrance examination.
She also commended parents and teachers for their roles in the pupils’ success.
“I appreciate the parents for their support and encouragement, and the teachers for their dedication in nurturing the children from their early years,” Adeyemi said.
Also speaking, Dr Olajide Onigbogi, the Executive Head of Schools, in charge of Communications and Business Development, Chrisland Schools, described the scholarship scheme as part of the school’s corporate social responsibility.
Onigbogi said that the school received between 500 and 700 applicants yearly, from which about 20 were shortlisted for the scholarship examination before the final selection 14 beneficiaries.

“This year, 14 pupils emerged successful. For those on full scholarship, it covers the first three years of junior secondary school and may be extended to six years, based on sustained academic performance,” he said.
Mrs Odera Okonkwo, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, commended the school for providing a strong academic foundation for the children.
Okonkwo said that the discipline and training given to learners, especially at the primary level, played a crucial role in their success.

She urged parents to ensure their children complete foundational classes to build a solid academic base.
