The Lagos State Command and Control Centre says it recorded 15.77 million offered calls between January and November, with 11.99 million successfully answered across its emergency response channels during the period under review.

Mr Femi Giwa, General Manager, Lagos State Command and Control Centre (LSCCC) unveiled the operations overview report at a recent chat with newsmen in Lagos.

The report shows that September recorded the highest call traffic, with 2.12 million offered calls and 1.66 million answered calls, while March posted the lowest volume with 985,135 calls.

Giwa said a significant portion of calls received during the period were nuisance and non-actionable, totalling 10.86 million, while 29 hoax calls were documented.

Despite these disruptions, the agency said it successfully processed 2.56 million escalated cases, ensuring that critical incidents were transferred to the appropriate emergency, security and service agencies for further action.

According to the report, the centre handled 11,127 emergency-classified cases within the 11-month period, reflecting continued public reliance on the state’s coordinated response network.

It added that May recorded the highest number of abandoned calls at 521,780, noting that efforts are ongoing to improve caller engagement, reduce dropped calls and strengthen public awareness on proper emergency reporting.

The GM reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to enhancing response capacity, improving inter-agency coordination and deepening public confidence in the emergency communication system across the state.

He expressed gratitude to Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for equipping the Centre with State of the art facility that has positioned the Centre to compete globally.

While emphasizing the need to save the lives and property of Lagos residents, Giwa cautioned against hoax calls.

He appealed to Lagos residents to always use the state’s toll free emergency lines 767 and 112 to report any emergency situation in the state.
