Ikosi Senior School wins Headfort Foundations’ Interschool Debate

Ikosi Senior School, Ketu has won the first position in the Headfort Foundation for Justice Interschool Debate competition organised in Lagos.

Apart from winning the first position, the school also received a cash reward of N50,000

Kosofe Senior School came second with a cash price of N30, 000, while Ojota Senior School and Aiyedere Ajibola Senior School clinched the third and fourth postions respectively; with each having a cash price of N10, 000.

Speaking at the event, Miss Oluwadamilola Ilori, Programmes Officer, Headfort Foundation for Justice said that the debate was put forward to teach the students how to adopt the positive aspect of technology to further their education.

Ilori expressed gratitude to their partners students and the heads of the various schools in ensuring that the debate was a success.

Newsmen reports that the topic for the debate is: “Is Technology Bridging or Widening the Gap in Children’s Access to Quality Education.”

Also speaking at the event, Barrister Chinyere Odibo, representing the National Human Rights Commission, Lagos, said that the Commission is excited in identifying with the foundation in bringing issues concerning children to the front burner.

Odibo said that the commission is very keen in the protection and promotion of the rights of children and the youths.

She said that the partnership with Headforth Foundation for Justice was to identify with them in their work around the education of children and youths on their rights and on how to be better citizens of Nigeria.
