The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced final deadlines for the 2025/2026 admission exercise for universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education nationwide.

Decision Taken at Policy Meeting

JAMB and key education stakeholders reached the decision during the 2026 Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions.

The meeting held in Abuja on Monday and brought together vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, and other sector leaders.

Furthermore, participants discussed ways to improve the admission process and create uniform timelines across institutions.

Deadlines for Universities

According to resolutions adopted at the meeting, all public universities must complete admissions on or before October 31, 2026.

Meanwhile, private universities have until November 30, 2026, to conclude their admission processes.

Consequently, candidates seeking placement into degree programmes now have clearer timelines for admission decisions.

Polytechnics, Colleges Get December Date

JAMB also fixed deadlines for other tertiary institutions.

Polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education must complete their admissions not later than December 31, 2026.

Furthermore, the move aims to reduce delays that often affect fresh students and academic calendars.

The new schedule may help institutions plan better and allow students to know their status earlier.

However, schools must still follow JAMB guidelines, CAPS procedures, and approved admission quotas.

Meanwhile, more details from the policy meeting are expected later.
