Residents of Gowon Estate in Egbeda have raised urgent concerns over a worsening electricity crisis that has plunged the community into prolonged darkness.

For the past three weeks, households have endured near-total power outages due to the inconsistent service from Ikeja Electric (IE).

The company’s pattern of restoring electricity for only brief ten-minute intervals before cutting it off again has further compounded the problem.

This erratic “on-and-off” supply has caused significant damage, with many residents reporting the loss of valuable household appliances as a result of repeated power surges.

Beyond the homes, the local economy is also taking a severe hit. Small business owners, already burdened by the high cost of fuel, are now forced to either operate at a loss or shut down completely.

Combined with the harsh weather conditions, the situation has become increasingly unbearable for residents, who are calling for immediate intervention.
